Mr. Spencer is a result driven, self-motivated attorney with over 35 years of experience in investigations, negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, trials, and appeals to the Oregon Court of Appeals and the Oregon Supreme Court. He is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington, and in Federal District Court for the District of Oregon, and the United States Tax Court.
Mr. Spencer graduated in 1978 from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business, and a minor in Economics. He then attended Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon, graduating in 1981 with Doctor of Jurisprudence. He has excellent business acumen including branding and marketing, recruiting, administration of benefits and performance appraisals, resolving employment disputes, onboarding and separation of employees.
Mr. Spencer served as an elected representative to the Oregon State Bar’s House of Delegates, Region 1 (Central and Eastern Oregon) from 1996 to 1999. He has served on the Professional Responsibility Committee for Deschutes, Jefferson, Crook, and Wheeler Counties from 1993 to1997, and was the chairman of the committee from 1995 to 1997. Mr. Spencer has served also on the Klamath/Lake County, Local Professional Responsibility Committee from 1991 to 1993, and on the Board of Governors of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, from April 1996 to July 1997. Mr. Spencer has been a speaker for the Oregon Law Institute of Lewis & Clark Law School, and wrote The Logic of Winning, for presentation at Oregon Workers’ Compensation Law 2005: Logic, Knowledge & Ethics.
Mr. Spencer’s practice emphasizes employment discrimination law, personal injury, workers’ compensation, and wrongful death cases. The cases handled by Mr. Spencer have included wrongful death and catastrophic injuries such as quadriplegia. Mr. Spencer has worked closely with doctors dealing with injuries to every area of the body, including the head, neck, spine, shoulders, elbows, wrist, hands, hips, knees, and feet. The events causing these injuries include gas explosions, trampoline accidents, bar fights, boating accidents, trip and falls, and automobile accidents.
